Serial capture

I need to realtime capture a bunch of data on a serial port from another
piece of equipment.  Anybody have an suggestions (tools) on the best way to
do this?

I know I can write a program to do it, but suspect somebody has already
created such a beast!

BTW, the info on PDF was very interesting and I am glad the person asked the
question.  You folks know a lot about this stuff, thanks!
