Why does this not surprise me?  I cannot count the number of hours I've wasted
cleaning up messes caused by Windows' inability to discern between

        microsoft
        Microsoft
        MICROSOFT
        MICROS~1    
        Microsoft.
        microsoft.exe

etc, etc.  What a bloody mess.
