Boot floppy

I booted up with the original installation floppy, and when it came to the
boot: prompt, I typed vmlinuz root=/dev/hda8 and everything went just fine.

Sure, you COULD do that, but it would be easier to boot the CD and do it
from there (I assume that this is possible, but I'm not a RH user these
days...) Otherwise, look on your CD for a directory called "images", there
should be a readme in there for making a set of boot disks.

Note:

you might find it easier, if you don't need to pass any kernel paramaters,
to just dd a kernel to the floppy and boot from there.
