tape drive

Not sure if this will help, but I have to use ftape on my Caldera
eDesktop 2.4 system. tar works great. I am loading ftape as
a loadable module.

Subject: kclug - tape drive

Need information on installing IDE tape drive with Linux. All I have
read says if the
IDE hard drive is working then noting is needed for the tape drive. When
the computer
boots BIOS finds the tape. When Caldera Linux 2.3 starts it finds the
tape (hdd).
When I use "dmesg | less" the tape drive is listed.

Can not tar to the drive and BRU will not find the drive.

Any suggestions.
