My post was probably too strong; I'm inclined to do that late at night,
particularly when the subject is Microsoft.  The post wasn't intended as a
flame, and wasn't thinking of the recipient as a newbie, or I wouldn't have
written it that way.

That notwithstanding, I do believe that Microsoft and those who oppose it are
very much in a state of war.  It's quite subtle, and outsiders might assume
that the anti-Microsoft contingent is made up of jealous, malcontent, commie
propeller-heads.  What it's really about, though, is the Big Lie and whether
Microsoft will be allowed to smother freedom and innovation.  People joke
about Microsoft having the power to charge you for the right to draw breath,
but it's not so far from the truth.

If I seem overwrought on the subject, it's because I believe this is something
that really matters.
