Apache/Postgres question (s)

Hi, I have a couple of Apache server questions. I got a dynamic DNS address
from penquinpowered (thanks Randy & Mike), but I can't seem to name the
server properly.

If I have the address steve.penquinpowered.com, should the Apache ServerName
directive be set to "www.penquinpowered.com" per the Apache docs (given
canonical names are on)? Everything is default (port 80, /etc/apache,
/var/www, standalone, etc.). I'm running Apache 1.3.9.

Trying to go to http:\www.steve.penquinpowered.com can't locate the server.

Eventually, I want to put a java/Postgres app there where the java runs with
the machine name as host on port 1300 and the client as 127.0.0.1, and the
postgres is at the machine name and port 5432.

The application stuff will be more complicated, but for now it would be nice
to see my placemarker at steve.penquinpowered.com.

It sounds like what I've done should work per the documentation, but my
machine is currently just a dialup desktop, and I know nothing about running
a Linux server.

Any input greatly appreciated (including the seemingly obvious!).

Thanks,
Steve
