Subject: 99pl8 to 99pl10 From: Jonathan Swaby <JFS10@psuvm.psu.edu> Date: Tue, 22 Jun 1993 19:34:07 EDT
After compiling the new system (pl10), I halted the old system and
started the new one. My screen did funny things. It was like watching
TV when the cable is out. The system was running, but I was unable to
read anything. I started X and things got a little better, but X was
also messed up. My question is what did I do wrong, and how can I
correct it?
I was not able to tell if everything compiled correctly, because much
of the output had scrolled off the screen. I was running logoutd at the
time. It appears to me that the system is using a video mode that my
card and or monitor can not handle. Is there a way to fix this without
having to recompile the kernel?
My system is a Gateway 2000 486DX 33 with 4MB of ram, SpeedStar+ with 1MB
and a CrystalScan 1024NI.
If I do need to recompile, should I do make dep; make clean first?
Thank You
