I almost never use this facility (four choices, lower right corner, Fedora) but I remember when first starting out w/ RedHat 5.2 or so, one could move the mouse from one desktop's edge and roll right onto the next one with a big lurch to the screen. Now, my (perhaps fallible) recollection is that, at first, it didn't have the big lurch, and you could just scroll from one place to another smoothly (sometimes ending up half in one desktop and half in another, looking at the window you were working on. In other words it was really one BIG workspace divided by you screen size four times (at first it was six screens big, too. I DO remember that part...:-\ Anybody else recall that arrangement? -- lowell <lowell@kc.rr.com>

Definitely...I was never a big fan of that myself. I guess if you had some uber-giant detailed picture you wanted to view full-size, it could be useful. That's part of what's great about FLOSS...you can actually HAVE different strokes for different folks. :-) -- Kendric Beachey
