Anyone here have a nest thermostat that Google bricked this year/last year when they shut off their cloud? I can jailbreak it at the next meeting and demo "No Longer Evil", the firmware replacement project, and it's API that let's me control my thermostat from a terminal.

I'd love to see that! I'm sure mine will be locked out soon. (It's version 2)

Cool. I'll demo it on the 8th, next Wednesday at 6pm @ leawood pioneer. Is the room booked for August or September? If not I can do that there as well and demo the new calendnar widget on the site.
You are VERY lucky if you have a version 2 that still works. That's what mine is and the nest and google home apps stopped controlling mine in January. There's a class action about it too. Louis Rossman organized a hack project to liberate them. It's a firmware hack that points it at a different cloud and then there's an opensource cloud you can run, or I'm just using the free instance.
The thermostat on the wall looks and works no differently in person other than a new logo during boot. But its controlled via nolongerevil.com now and there's a wrapper app for android that opens that site fullscreen as if it were its own app.
The new cloud supports MQTT and an http API and perhaps others. It's arguably better than using the Google cloud if integration access is important to you.
