In a roundabout way, you and I are saying the same thing.  Take a look at it again.
If they are hard to find, like your RAID cards, they become expensive.

In which case, the claims they make on their web site and in their ads are

The _ONE_ objection I see is if you buy their system, you're locked in to
buying replacements and upgrades from them, since there isn't a standard -
yet.  Having delivered enough very expensive RAID cards that became
unavailable within the MBTF for the cards, that would be a major objection
for me.
