I can't say about your situation, but I can say that
entry level jobs are practically non-existent. At my
last interview, I was told that here were over 100
qualified applications for an entry level job that
didn't pay all that well.

I would move in an instant if I thought the job market
was appreciably different somewhere else. So far, I
haven't found that place.

One thing that I am sure of is that there is no shortage
of programmers in the United States. There is a shortage
of programmers with 2 - 5 years experience but that is
because nobody will hire entry level graduates.

It looks like I may not be taken on perm at the company I work for as
planned. They have "extended" my contract indefinitely until they can
determine whether they have the money in the budget to take me and the
other contractors perm. I have only been here 2 months so far (3 month
contract). I even moved here from CA because I thought the company would
provide better job security. They may still take me perm but I am not
counting my chickens.

My question is about the local job market. Is it really tough? I have
about 4 years of Unix Sys Admin experience in a wide range of platforms.
May have to move again if it is really bad. Just getting sick of the whole
pink slip thing.
