I know next to nothing about Linux but Gentoo was fairly easy to
install. The only thing I don't like is that it takes so long to setup
and install. But that is the ONLY thing I don't like, my list of RedHat
complaints is much longer. But I'm not saying RedHat is bad, only
difficult to install things. Which is usually the first thing I start
doing when I get a linux box installed.

I love Gentoo just as much as the next guy (unless I'm sitting between
two RedHat fans), but do you think it's the best distro for someone just
starting out in Linux? I mean, you can throw 'em in the deep end and
let 'em go, and they'll probably survive...but isn't there a better
chance of them enjoying the experience and continuing it with something
like Mandrake?
