Oh, idunno. I have a 160GB Maxtor basket that I put all my eggs in. Sor
far, this one hasn't broke. But the first one had a rash of bad sectors
that forced me to return it.
I found the ide-smart utility to be a lifesaver. It tells me how the
drive's internet benchmarking and performance ratings compare to known
premature failures:
And currently my drive hasn't mechanically degraded over the months.
