There is never anything 100% on filtering stuff out, but I can tell you
from experience that making it a "subscriber can post only" list takes a
lot of the work out of it.

Again, this isn't an issue. If people are wanting to do Linux, then they
should be intelligent enough to read a bounce message that says "hey, you
are using the wrong account". We send out a monthly rules/tips/tricks
thing with all of our procedures to get on/off the list, how it works, and
our rules to all the people on the list. It works great.
Like I said before, being able to read mail from an archive site (up to the
minute) makes a big difference for some people. I know a lot of people do
things that way entirely -- they have no incoming mail, they are set to
nomail with the list server and can still post because they are on the
list. If someone needed to do that, you could easily have two addresses
(home/work) and then the work one be set to nomail. Case solved eh?
