Linux functional equal to Novell SFT concept. Is there a ready to use and "Free" version

Recently several situations have come up where a Linux based
incarnation of the old Novell SFT would be valued. SFT seems to make
more sense than ever for high $ per minute situations.
What can we do to replicate this in Linux?  A concise explanation of

Since Novell has an involvement of sorts with Linux there is a logical
elegant progressive sense here too
