Sure, but some IDE hardware, particularly older IDE hardware, does not play 
well in certain configurations.  Some HD's won't be slaves no matter how you 
jumper them, some CD drives won't be anything but slaves.

Check for alternate jumper settings, or just live with a slightly different 
drive order.
