It's true about laptop batteries.  Just try to find a laptop vendor that
will provide a warranty for a battery for over one year.  You just can't
do it.  They'll be glad to sell you a new one though.  I had to deal
with some of this from IBM.  For 1600 laptops.  Not fun.

Regarding the Dell recall, I just had one replaced that was on the
recall list.  It was for a Latitude C640.  Only specific ones are part
of it though.

I'm guessing that a company wouldn't be too ethusiastic about taking the
blame for their bad component causing damage to other components.
