I have been trying to boot Linux (and SLS) from a set of bootimage/rootimage disks
on a machine with a Seagate ST-01 scsi controller. Linux correctly identifies the scsi
controller (at least it prints a string containing ST-01 out) and also the ST1096N disk
(an 80Mb drive). However, when trying to continue, it says 'scsi host 2 not responding -
Aborting command' (don't flame me for the exact wording - it's from memory). I've tried
SLS too and it saus the same (it says scsi host _3_ though). I fetched the Linux boot/root
images from funet directly, and when I boot them on my own machine (with a 130Mb IDE drive)
, it says version 0.98. I got the SLS from ftp.denet.dk (aka: ftp.uni-c.dk) [129.142.6.100]
in dir /pub/OS/linux/SLS. It claims to be version 0.99pl4-6.
My friend (who has the machine with the scsi drive) says that he has read a file that claims
that ST-01 controllers _ARE_ supported, but I haven't read that myself.
Does anyone have a clue to this???
(BTW: SLS says that 'WD8013 not found at address 280' on both machines)
Thanks in advance,
